Ecological tourism on Baikal
Taiga … Steppes … Crystal clear rivers … All these natural beauties are able to attract tourists for a whole year. It is impossible to call a trip on Lake Baikal something ordinary, especially in winter.
All reservoirs at this time are covered with transparent ice. It is from it that you can see the sights that are not available to tourists in the summer. Baikal is a promising center for ecological tourism in Russia.
Several ecological routes have been developed on its territory. Travelers who want to visit the cleanest and most beautiful lake, do not necessarily have a special physical form.
All active tours to Lake Baikal on average consist of 9 days. Tourists who do not want to live in tents and remain without comfort can choose a tour to the Sayan Mountains. Throughout the journey, they will be able to stop at nearby camp sites.
The development of eco-tourism in the area is actively continuing. A public interregional organization called “The Great Baikal Trail” is developing 10 ecological trails. Some of them have already been commissioned. Their main projects concern such unique sights as: the Khamar-Daban jungle; the banks of the river Ina; Barguzinsky Reserve; Dzherginsky Nature Reserve; Baikal Reserve, etc.
One of the active tours offers travelers to visit the sacred places on the island of Olkhon. The Tazheranskaya steppe is also an integral part of all ecological routes of Baikal. Admire its panoramic view best from Mount Shibate. On it you can find the remains of the ancient Kurykans. Ecological tourism on Baikal is more developed than in other tourist regions of Russia. On all routes there are comfortable hotels and tourist centers. Most tours are designed for walking. Those who do not want to be in a long-term hike, can take advantage of offers, which include a transfer as an SUV.
Despite the fact that the tourism business, which is actively developing on Lake Baikal, offers its guests extremely comfortable conditions, we should not forget that there is not always hospitable taiga around the lake. Before embarking on a long journey, the tourist must carefully prepare for it: take a minimum of food and clothing; choose a very high-quality and roomy backpack; take the strongest shoes that can withstand the harshest hiking conditions.
You should definitely think about which of your friends should you take with you on a hike to Baikal. During the whole trip, especially in the evenings, I really want to talk with someone and share my own impressions. Bonfire and guitar songs are an essential part of every hike. It is these impressions, as well as photos of the beauties of the Baikal taiga, that will remind you of the most entertaining adventure in your life.
