Ecological tourism in Karelia

Getting into this mystical place, every traveler is fascinated by the beauty of its virgin nature. On the territory of this area there is a large number of natural monuments, reserves, reserves and national parks. In each of them, the development of nature tourism is in full swing.
Ecological tourism every year is becoming increasingly popular in our country. One of the most interesting sights of Karelia is the Vodlozersky National Park. This is probably the only place where you can stumble upon a live reindeer. In this area there are wolves, martens, lynx and even wolverines.
However, this is only a small part of the numerous list of residents of the national park. A direct symbol of a natural object is considered an endangered species of white-tailed eagle. Ecotourism in Karelia would have lost a lot if there was not one very intriguing attraction in this area.
We are talking about the Island of Good Spirits. The most interesting begins already with the fact that this unusual object can not be found on the map of the area. All attempts to put an island on paper end in failure: either the pen does not write, the pencil breaks, or the map itself deteriorates.
Locals will be happy to tell you all the legends associated with the above location. According to the legend, good spirits really live in this area, but they don’t really like it when strangers try to figure out the exact location of their shelter. The island also houses a museum of local architecture. It exhibits wooden imitations made from all sorts of available tools. They were going to the museum staff since the 70s. Of particular interest among visiting tourists here is a wooden ship and a hut. If you want to fulfill your most cherished wish, then you have a direct road to Sampo Mountain.
Based on local legends, on this hill grows a magical pine, which is able to fulfill any human dream. For ancient magic to work, you must first climb to the very top of the mountain. Then you should approach the cherished pine tree and make a wish right in front of it, and then to shred a piece of your clothes on the tree. Finally, you need to say the thought out loud.
On the mountain Sampo it is worthwhile to rise not only because of the fulfillment of the desire: at the very top, a stunning panoramic view will open before your eyes, consisting of endless age-old forests and the water surface of Lake Konchezero. In the open landscape is best to admire the rays of the setting sun. Ecotourism in the Republic of Karelia became possible due to the active work of the local authorities.
For a comfortable trip, tourists can take advantage of the so-called “Guest Card”, which provides everyone with some privileges. In any journey through the northern natural beauties you should definitely take with you some things: matches, a compass, a knife, a map of the area, and also a flashlight. In unfamiliar places for you is better to go along with a tourist group or accompanied by a guide.
